imagine any other game releasing in 2020 and its like "and heres our crazy new feature, you can only ever play with half the playerbase WOOOOO" sounds not great right

absolutely no one cares about faction rivalry in 2020, splitting up half the playerbase affects everyone. Doesn't the lore already have the horde and alliance teaming up at the end of expansions anyway to fight some common goal? Why can't we queue raids and PVP with them.

I care deeply about faction rivalry, one of the main reasons I play the game.

Ok as someone who cares about faction rivalry would you be okay pvping with them in random zones but still allowing other people to raid and pvp in groups cross faction but still have the lore storylines be different?

I really like the idea of opening up communication and Qs to all players. Do they honestly keep them separate so players will stay out of each other’s faction cities?

This is a pretty bad take, there's plenty of people in the playerbase that thrive on the faction rivalry. The term war is in the name of the game, and is absolutely fundamental to it.
