Unpopular opinion:
I like the days of only having enough time to gear 1 character fully (classic, tbc, etc)
I like to watch Cdew play Shaman.
I like to watch Pikaboo play Rogue.
I like the idea of class identity and class MASTERY instead of everyone playing everything.
I actually agree. Game balance isn't good enough to warrant this though. Also if the game is balanced and classes are very unique you also have multiclassing just the same. All MMOs will have a meta and the best players will try to branch out and be optimal.

Actually I don’t think it has to do with balance (Classic was insanely imbalanced). It’s more about time investment and gaming culture imo.

@maximumwow could do it like ff14, one char can change to w/e class and you level those off classes.
