I bet the variable that holds which azerite traits are on the item cannot be changed without screwing other things up, so they don't allow trading to cover up for spaghetti code 1/2
@WarcraftDevs is it really intended to not be able to trade true duplicate(ilvl, item name) azerite items? I can't see how this is helping anything, Its bogus when you can't trade an azerite piece you already have to someone with a 295 on.

I speculate this the same reason relics were not tradeable after you popped them in the crucible
