Why is "dead code elimination based on ES module graphs" called "tree shaking"? Wouldn't "graph shaking" or "dead code elimination" be more accurate?

How did early NES programmers write high-quality, nearly bug-free software in what moderners would call "spaghetti code," without TDD, PR review culture, FL, OOP encapsulation, formal methods, GC, etc.? What do they know that we have forgotten?

What are some examples of type-level TS libraries? I'm thinking about things like fp-ts and utility-types.

Still looking for help with this question. Type-level dot syntax is so convenient, but is only available with the "bad parts" of TS (features that are neither JS nor related to types)!

I am so confused about the least awful way to provide a .d.ts for `module.exports = { SomeClass }`

    Is there a 'let'-equivalent construct in Excel / Google Sheets? e.g. something that would behave like =LET(x = A1 + A2 + A3, x * (x - 1) * x)

JS devs today: "This code is better, it's more functional." Same devs in two years: "This code is better, it's more categorical."
