@ProbCausation is exactly this for econ papers on law/crime, and it's fantastic. I keep hoping other fields will pick up the format but I haven't found anything quite like it yet

Fair enough. I certainly don’t think we should require scientists to do it. But if the results are amiable to public understanding and there is a cool story behind the science / scientists, I would love to hear it.

yes, there's not enough of this, esp for grad student + post-doc 1st authors; usually it's the PI and you get the dog and pony show for neuro/AI there's (among others) Brain inspired from
