A magical night this was! You can't see a lot in the video, but you can hear, and it's really worth a listen.

Oh and we're reliant on Boris Johnson's government to negotiate us out of those consequences. The man who invented lying about the EU in newspapers and was lying about the contents of his own Withdrawal Agreement before it'd even been signed. Good luck, us.

I guess we now need a daily, maybe hourly reminder that thanks to the transition arrangements in the Withdrawal Agreement, most of the possible horrifying consequences of Brexit have been postponed until the end of 2020.

What a great morning. Thanks to a bunch of lies, I'm no longer a European citizen. Over in the USA, a body with political allegiance to the President gets to judge the President's guilt in a trial where facts are irrelevant. Truth matters! Or it should.

I wonder if the people setting off fireworks will be the ones who lose their jobs when Johnson fucks up the trade deal and other complex, vital arrangements which need to be sorted out.

I was expecting bitterness, even anger, from remainers...but something genuinely surprising is the level of bitterness & spite coming from leavers as our exit from EU approaches. If Brexit is what you yearned for - so dearly for years - how come you behave so badly, so bitter?

Of course the really critical question now is what will we be anticipating on the 31st of December? Will the transition have been extended? Will there be a deal? Will the no deal nightmare be right there ready to crash down on us? All still possible.

Thank you to all those MPs, many who have now lost their seats, who selflessly ensured that UK would not be leaving EU tomorrow without an exit deal That there will not be sudden adverse consequences is entirely thanks to you You are the true patriots

Tonight is going to be the last time I go to bed as a European citizen. I still can't really believe we're doing this. You'd think in the last three and a half years of arguing the good reasons for Brexit would have emerged. But they haven't. They never existed.

So here's my Nicholas Parsons story (thread!), which showed me what a lovely, considerate man he was. I grew up listening to Just a Minute... I was obsessed by it. I absolutely loved the sharp wit and off the cuff humour. Radio gold.

Why the fuck did anybody vote for this idiot's party? Not that we had a selection of engaging, enthusing and talented candidates to choose from. We really didn't.

In the mean time we have to trust Boris Johnson to lead a government which has to negotiate a trade deal with the EU in under ten months, simply because it serves his political advancement to claim it's going to be easy while simultaneously ruling out all the easy options.

I hope we will rejoin, and properly engage with it, but to do that we need to understand why we lost this argument. And I just don't. I can't bridge the gap from here to there. The country has a fracture right down the middle and it's going to break us further before it's done.

It's our last full day as members of the European Union. I always supported remaining. I have never seen a set of reasons for leaving which weren't outweighed by the benefits we've enjoyed (assuming they weren't just lies, which most were). This is still the wrong path.

I am unutterably delighted to learn that when a Portuguese person wants to express the thought ‘a bad workman blames his tools,’ she says instead that ‘A BAD DANCER BLAMES HIS TROUSERS.’

I don't have ADHD but I feel much the same about advice on how to solve my problems with mess. Fortunately I think I've figured out how to make progress now. I just had to figure it out by myself.

    1. I don't think people fully understand how dysfunctional and dangerous Facebook's political ad policy is Yes, people know Facebook allows politicians and parties to lie But it's so much worse This is important, so I'm going to explain in detail.
