At the time, Tim was an undergraduate researcher in Graham Hatfull's lab at the University of Pittsburgh. It is very inspiring for this undergraduate work to be used to save a life over a decade later. Go phages!

At the time, he was obsessed with phages and I made him this phage cookie to win his heart. Thirteen years later, our science has changed, but we're still eating cookies and chasing dreams...pic.twitter.com/kGmVjX3VTd

Dedicated and generous mentors like
@GHatfull make this kind of research possible. Who knows that other cures are waiting to be discovered in that enormous phage repository? Thousands of phages, many of which were collected by students like Tim.Show this threadThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I love the phage cookie and I'm so glad to learn the story behind the naming of BPs! My student Seth Pinches named his phage ZoeJ after his then-baby niece, who was born the day before Seth isolated his phage DNA in the SEA PHAGES course

Thanks. For the story, the article, for both of your efforts, and for all involved. Science rocks. Most of the time; when it doesn’t cause the rock to inadvertently squash us consequently.
