I wrote a huge summary of all the new features and changes done in the metadata format and its reference implementation. And this is already the shortened version... Check it out!

Behold the design-updated pages, listing apps and packages alongside each other. The backend is Laniakea, a suite of tools originally intended for but now in use for . Flatpak integration will also happen at some point.

This surely sounds like great plans in concept (especially for /home encryption - TBH after working on that for Purism for a while, I think the UX of that is generally pretty horrible and can't be improved without fundamental changes)

Released a new Debspawn, for building packages in -nspawn containers. This release adds an interactive mode for better debugging and saves buildlogs by default. Check it out: `apt install debspawn`

Released Generator 0.8.1 just now, a pretty boring bugfix-only release. It does fix a few important issues though which caused bad/incomplete metadata to slip through to clients. See for details about this release.

bpython (a pretty Python REPL) really became my favourite tool last night. It's so nice to be able to jump into an interactive Python shell for debugging on a server that isn't as basic as the original, allowing for more complex commands to be formed easier.

Greta: „Züge sind voll, sitze im ICE auf dem Boden, ist doch ein gutes Zeichen!“ Deutsche Bahn: „Naja, eigentlich saßt Du ein paar Kilometer ja auch in der 1. Klasse!“ AfD: „Siehste! Klimawandel ist ne Lüge!“ Alle: „PR-Desaster!“ SPD: „Haben wir da PR-Desaster gehört? Wait!“

Train service in Germany... Still really embarassing. At least if your ICE isn't hours late, outright broken or very overcrowded, it is quite fast.

The GR is currently going on. While I don't care about init-systems per se, I like the improvements systemd brings on that front and deeply care about the cross-distro compatibility the systemd toolset creates. Therefore, choosing what to vote for is easy for me.

"Multiverse Corp" has solved.... Something. Preprint servers surely are fun, I wonder which AI generated this (some sections look like a human has added an initial stretch of text and the remaining text was procedurally generated).

The LVFS just delivered it's 11 millionth update. We now work with over 90 vendors that have uploaded >2500 firmware files that implemented >25 different flashing protocols. On those files we've run >15k tests, and >30k users have uploaded success/failure reports.

I'm pondering whether it's time to switch off synthesis of data in for projects which don't ship metainfo files. They're pretty much standard now to be visible in software centers. Also, this feature broke in testing/sid and nobody noticed...
