I have decided that I resent "Joe Bell" for using Brandi Carlile's "The Joke" as closing credits music. The danger of using song this perfect and powerful in a film is that it'll show up the film, and that's what happens here.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r6A2NexF88 …

This is such good writing, Matt. I like how you grapple with the line between good intentions and pandering (and "human Budweiser commercial" is harsh but brilliant).

Noticed a typo in the review, it’s Diana Ossana, not Ossining.

I saw two tiny typos and somebody has already fixed them. Impressive. Think I’m not going to see this but I enjoyed the review.

He was great in Boogie Nights, but I just don't want to see Mark Wahlberg in anything ever again; I just don't want to see his face or hear about him or anything

I really appreciated this review. Saw this last night w/ my 16yo daughter. I struggled with the fact that I recognized a lot of problems in the movie, but emotionally (as someone who is the same age as Joe, with 3 teenage kids) it absolutely walloped me.

Anyway, reading that this morning really helped me process how I felt about the movie.
