Speaking from four years ahead of you, it’s normal.

No, but it is a normal side effect of high levels of stress and/or depression, which is becoming more common in this insane timeline we're living in.

I am concerned about the same symptoms. But like you, I have suffered tremendous personal loss in the last couple of years, and that combined with the pandemic has rendered my normally incredible memory somewhat hapless.

Same--I always had a fantastic memory, something people commented on. Last year I lost a major step, forgetting things I'd said, forgetting trivial things like actors' names (I'd NEVER have done that before!). Last year kicked my ass. Upside is I think I'm almost normal again.

It’s also a side effect of being emotionally overburdened.

With kindness, I think with everything you have been through + the times we live in, it’s more likely to be the effect of chronic stress. Stress has multiple effects on the formation of memory AND the retrieval of old memories AND causes fatigue which in turn can impact cognition

This. I am basically a blank slate right now. I write stuff in a text file every day like the Memento guy so I don't forget it in the next.
