I always read Superman's decency (as much as he is an inherently good person) as purposefully affected. He can fly, smash concrete and shoot fire from his eyes, and he must know how intimidating he is and puts on a show of decency to put others at ease.

Matt you really do a great job of unintentionally equating Superman to Fred Rogers. Both good men people continually think are too good to be true until they actually see it for themselves, and that their goodness is the result of daily practice at just. being. good.
