As far as I know, Lubick went and visited Pete and Monte and learned it. He wasn’t using that terminology when he was the DC at Miami.

After much coffee, below is the monstrosity of my research. I'm guessing Sonny Lubick was influenced by Sonny Holland. Who knew that Montana coaching was such a hotbed? (I didn't). Maybe some Tampa 2 ideas traveled from Montana initially? Does anybody know?

This got me thinking about the schematic origins of the Sonny Lubick and Pete Carroll defenses, plus the listed Colorado 2003 DC - Steve Stanard. Lubick was defensive-focused at the time of 2003, see this excerpt from page 14 of "Every Week a Season" by Brian Curtis.

The Colorado State, 4-3. Tampa 2, Sonny Lubick 2003 Defensive Playbook shares a lot of similar verbiage with Pete Carroll's defense, reflecting the schematic, Monte Kiffin-influenced roots of Carroll. Green Front "Special" check for man coverage Over zone Y Ofc: Pirate-heavy.

The Red Sox moved Mookie Betts last night (I’m not crying. You are). I wrote about what the equivalent would be for Liverpool, and what it might mean for the club going forward with the same ownership group.

Goliath was taken down by an overmatched foe utilizing an aerial assault, decapitated, and then had his head paraded as a trophy. I don’t think Texas needs to lean into that identity any harder than they already have.

We talk lots about Wagner slowing down, but with Pete Carroll's defense predicated on keeping the second level clean, it's vital we emphasize that the defensive line too often failed to do this effectively. Lack of trust in players to do their jobs.
