All this is true, no doubt, in the broad universal sense, but the problem for many traditional, working class people in the West is that their lives got worse (life expectancy fell, jobs went offshore, their community became unrecognisable due to mass immigration, etc)

Even good change is disrupting for some... and people hate disruption. People clamour to return to work in closed coal mines & decry the shrinking of grim coal mining towns when they get safer, better jobs elsewhere! Part of the solution is help to transition, part is just time.
