My worst-performing video after ~24 hours in a really long time, hooray! In the future I won't be doing builds in silly things like pumpkins anymore, I don't care if you guys vote for it or not.https://youtu.be/YsUq38eEz1k

Paul you're letting this get to you too much. You're content is top notch.

Of course he’s letting this get to him! It’s his fucking livelihood! YouTube’s algorithms and lack of viewer engagement is exactly what he should be upset over!!

I understand he is upset. But some times stuff just doesn't work out. Youtube just isn't going to fix their shit any time soon. So don't get upset. Its one video out of many.

Spoken like someone who doesn’t understand whatsoever what a single video can do to a channel with YouTube’s engagement weight system

If that's the case, wouldn't the videos surrounding the pumpkin video be detrimental to getting discovered in the YouTube algorithm or am I missing something? Just trying to understand.pic.twitter.com/G4H6uXsWW5

Not how it works. The video only affects the first 24hr performance if the next video. Not so much past ones. They are pst their viewership peak

Ok I think I understand that, but I'm still a bit confused. So the video that has 16k views. Wouldn't that video have thrown off the algorithm for the pumpkin vid? I guess my confusion is from this being the "worst performing video" when other videos haven't performed as well.

The 16k video was a live stream upload which does indeed damage the channel a LOT when it comes to viewer engagement. VERY few people watch reuploaded streams vs when they are live. But even when they are live, they hurt the channel. This is one reason I stopped TechTalk

Oh cool, I guess we'd better cancel our live show then. Good to have a solution to work with. No more Awesome Hardware! Cc

I know it's not ideal, but if this is the way the algorithm works, @TeamYouTube is making it pretty clear that they don't want people to live stream. So, why not move your live streams to another platform, like Twitch or Mixer?
