this seems to presuppose that a man wants respect like a woman wants love. but respect here is more analogous to affection, which men similarly ration

Man or woman, why would anyone want to live with such abuse? Spouses should treat the other the way they want to be treated. How is this difficult?

It is so true many times over! All women would and could learn from reading this article. I am glad that I have the love and respect from my wife and give her the same. Maybe that is one reason I have been married for amost 45 years. Women need to understand that. Respect=love

I don't disagree, but it works both ways. Wives too are entitled to respect from their husbands. I know of no statistics that demonstrate that more husbands than wives are being deprived of such respect. Seems unbalanced to focus solely on the "obligations" of one spouse.

It is only confining and subjugating if you view it that way. Women who are happily married and enjoy their role and celebrate their femininity. Women will never be the same as men. We are different for a reason.
