      @mattvsjapan Matt, a majority of Japanese people learning English think wrongly that stress is important in learning English. 強弱で英語を言うといいという間違った考えがあります。But it seems like I can't persuade them.

      強弱というと?強弱アクセントということですか?たとえばaddictという動詞とaddictという名詞の発音上の違いはアクセントだけだということを考えると普通にimportantに思えるんですけど、どうですか?

      音量のことです。例えばADDICTだとDIのところを音量を大音量にしないと、英語が通じないという変な考え方です(大音量のところは大げさに言うためにそう書きました)。

      どうやって説得したらいいか、途方にくれます。常識で分かると思うんですよ。音量を変えるっていうことが、意味の伝達には関連しないということを説明したいんけどね。

      なんでそう思っているのか、何を根拠にそういう結論に至ったのかと問い詰めるのはどうですか?うまくやればただの思いこみだということに気付かせられるのかも知れません

          実は外国人が英語はSTRESS LANGUAGEだと言ってしまっているから、それを真に受けているんです。ネットでサーチすると言語学者がそう書いています。

          じゃあ、そのよく言われているSTRESSというのはアクセントのような微妙繊細なもので、音量とはほとんど関係ないということを説明してみては?その後demonstrationも加えて、それでもなお分かっていただけないのであれば、もう救いようがないと思います笑
