As of today, I am officially starting to transition to a plant based diet! Excited for what the future holds; might as well make it a healthy future.

Good luck! I’ve been eating just meat and fat for a while now, so it’d be interesting to see how a carb-heavy diet would work lol :D

haha Ive actually tried Keto for a few months but found out it's actually pretty horrible for you on the inside... but with that said just trying things out until I find what seems right; it's hard to know without doing the science yourself, whats right and whats not!

most people who claim to experience bad results on keto ive seen were not actually doing it right. the vast majority of what you eat should be vegetables in terms of volume. a lot of people way overeat protein on it and just gorge on meat and that usually ends badly. Ymmv tho

I'll typically eat like almost a pound of brocolli, cauliflower, spinach, onions, asparagus, etc in a day. Lots of olive oil and macadmia nuts, etc. I guess you could say my diet is 'plant-based' in that regard but I'll eat the fuck out of grassfed meat and butter too

I assumed 'plant based diet' was a new way of referring to veganism which i can support on ethical grounds i guess but it's not optimal for health and long term a pretty bad idea. Even the ethical argument is shaky because a fuck ton of animals are still killed in agriculture.

you should check out the book "How Not to Die", the claim that a plant based diet is "not optimal for health and long term a pretty bad idea" actually has a lot of evidence against it.

Check out a book called "The Plant Paradox" if you're interested in why I claim that.

something to consider is that never in the history of humanity has there been a group of people that ate exclusively plants. there have been plenty of omnivorous societies, and there have also been several populations that ate almost exclusively animals (Inuits and a few others)

those populations were also nearly completely free of the types of disease we see today in modern civilizations, lived long and healthy lives. look into the anthropological work of weston a. price for examples. humans are not evolutionarily designed to eat only plants.

that said, i also think modern factory-farmed meat is bad for you and should be avoided. nutrition is a pretty complex thing and i could rant about this shit for hours but i'll shut the fuck up now and get back to japanese. :D
