Would be learning 古文 learning another language at the same time?
I would think of it as learning 文語, not 古文, since they are really two different things

I see, the subject is 古文 because it's kind of the old texts, and 文語 the language right? When I search it in wikipedia it's confusing because there are a lot of names haha, but yeah I think we are talking about the same thing.

Yes, 古文 is actual old language from up to 1000+ years ago. 文語 is the GRAMMAR that is used in 古文, but was also used all the way up to the meiji period. So for example, although things written by 福沢諭吉 are written in 文語, it's not 古文 (and not hard to learn to read)

I see I see, now it makes sense. So I'll learn a little bit of 文語 and I'll leave 古文 for later on. Thanks for the explaination!
