Because it tells how words are ACTUALLY used, not just what they are "supposed to mean". Like all the other dictionaries would define 初恋 as simply "初めての恋。", where as 明解 goes out of it's way to add "うたかたと消えた" which is absolutely hilarious.
I know you’re meant to learn any words you don’t know that show up in the definition but do you also learn the words that are in the 「」example sentences? Just wondering as it seems like a great opportunity to learn more vocabulary as well
Depends on what level you are at. If you have seen my "AJATT overview" video, I would say that if you are close to "stage 4" or above, then yes. If not, then generally no.
