i+1 sentences from native material seem to be quite hard to find (at least in the beginning stage)...might be just me though #ajatt

yeah just finished getting sentences off Tae Kim's site. Now I'm gathering sentences from books (i watched your vid about 青空文庫). I'm trying to understand roughly what the sentences mean using jisho (hopefully this is the right way)...then will be the monolingual transition

I wouldn't start with aozora books, they are much too difficult for a beginner. If you are using jisho all the time, that is not i+1 and not what you want to be doing. I would start with anime with J-subs or manga.... that way it shouldn't be too hard to find i+1 sentences

..using Jisho to make sure I learn correct readings etc & changing any kana to kanji if needed. I'm adding sentences like this: でも、俺はまだ眠いのだ。 ちょっと、なんの話? 俺はマンションのドアを閉める。

If i recall correctly, you are past the stage of learning basic grammar and are now mining sentences from native media right? If so, there should be no full english translation on that back; you should be understanding it in Japanese

got it. I was 800 sentences in but ditched that deck cos it wasn't purely native material. Starting again on native only. Thanks heaps. Also what is a discord server..? (excuse my ignorance haha)

"Discord", it's basically a chatroom. You can use it online or as a desktop app. Lots of cool resources get posted
