Finally finished the original Terrace House series. Of course it had its ups and downs, but a few of the arcs in there were seriously legendary. The later seasons are garbage in comparison; don't let them stop you from checking out the original.

I really wish I could be entertained by producers setting up fake dates and forced conversations while telling me everything is totally unscripted

I watched the 2nd season a while ago, but didn't find the 1st too different from a production/fakeness perspective. From the AJATT perspective I learned some things but there's too much dead time and English music (perhaps I'm not appreciating subtle conversational things yet)

fakeness perspective? like when the kickboxing champion of Japan had to end his career early due to a head injury and didn't know what to do with his life? hard to imagine we're talking about the same show

I agree that the unscripted talent brings their real lives and problems into the show, but the situations filmed in the house are largely constrained by what the producers want, described in https://www.reddit.com/r/terracehouse/comments/5qgses/is_it_partially_fake_or_staged/dcz3il8/ …; imagine the gap between this and what would happen naturally

Ok I realized that it is pretty fake, you are right about that. But in the end I don't think that makes it less enjoyable. You know that normal TV shows are 100% "fake" right?
