You may have backed yourself into a theological corner in this piece. There are orthodox Christians who hold that the unevangelized can be saved by Christ. CS Lewis is arguably the most famous representative of this position. Jeffress holds *a*, but not *the*, orthodox position.

By unevangelized, do you mean people who have never heard the Gospel? If so, I don’t think this column addresses that one way or the other (nor do Jeffress’s past controversial comments—as far as I know).
-
I think that's what most would mean by it. And looking back into the source material, I don't see a statement by Jeffress where he rules out salvation for the unevangelized, only those who have consciously rejected Jesus.
-
But your point of departure was Kyle Griffin's summary of Jeffress: "all non-Christians—including people who are Jewish—will not go to heaven."
-
Now there are different ways to nuance it, but to my mind "all-non Christians" includes majority if not all of the unevangelized, depending on what the term "Christian" means in this context. And it seems like you build from there to the orthodox view. Does that make sense?
-
I realize you probably have a word count to come in under, but I would have liked some acknowledgement that there are different ways the exclusivity of salvation through Jesus can play out, and everyone who isn't obviously Christian not going to heaven is just one of them.

I appreciate your treatment of the larger population of us Christians in this article. Sharing Jesus and hoping others will embrace Him is borne out of relationship with that person; it begins with respecting them. Jeffrees respects Trump first, others second (if at all).

1) I agree there could have been a better choice. 2) Nearly ALL religions preach that others are “false”, particularly Islam extremists who wish to eradicate non-believers. 3) He’s not give Trump a pass, considers them sins which is for God, not you nor me.
-
4) What gets me is the criminalization by never-Trumpers and the media of affairs. Particularly those a decade old & restricted by NDA. 5) If sin should be criminalized then I must ask, what are all yours? Unless your ready to disclose yours, judging another’s sins off limits.

Matt Lewis is a smart guy, why lately he has been publishing garbage column? nothing substantial, I want my 5 minutes back. It is now clear
@mattklewis is hired at the daily beast to attack the president and anything this administration does from a "conservative" standpoint.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

What you label “inelegant” speech I would call hateful. Moreover, many Christian churches and theologians do not accept your understanding of scripture on the issue of exclusivity. That does not make us all “unorthodox”
