One insight from @jon_rauch’s “The Happiness Curve” is that all happiness is relative (it’s not enough for me to be successful, I have to get ahead of others). This reminded me of @JonahNRO’s “Suicide of The West.” We live in this amazing place and time, yet we don’t feel happy.

There's a lack of gratitude for the good in our everyday existence in the West. We forget to marvel at the good, at kindness, at love, at the sheer miracle of our existence.

Wayne Dyer had it right on happiness. Basically he said that happiness resides within us, but that most people search for it outside of themselves. Happiness comes from how we think. Lincoln said something similar: Folks are as happy as they make their minds up to be

Isn’t it also a famous old riff of Louis CK: “everything is amazing and nobody is happy”

Meaning & purpose ranks higher than happiness....As Frankel observed life is composed of fleeting moments of happiness.

Happiness on a spiritual level is from within. Success and being more than others is a surface happiness. Feel the joy from within and happiness is always available.

I think that’s how liberals/communist experience happiness, their not happy unless everyone else is miserable!

Speak for yourself. I'm very happy. But I'm over 50, so maybe I don't count. :-)

Consider how success is defined. In our society it’s often about having an abundant supply of ‘stuff’ (money, fame, status, power) & fear of losing ‘it’ drives frantic treadmill activity. Conducive to happiness? Fleeting at best.
