It's really interesting. Almost all the very strident Republicans that I've been following on Twitter for the past ten years are #NeverTrump'ers and most of them have turned their back on the GOP.
Count me in that group.
I left the Republican Party in 2008 after having been a lifelong Republican for nearly 40 years. I felt like they had left me more than I was leaving them. They are not the party of or for the people.
I think there are more of us than people think!
I'm so glad Matt that you finally figured this one out. Independents are the new GOP
IF they voted for Hillary Clinton, they were never Republicans to begin with.
Whatever you have to tell yourself.
Makes sense. But I also wonder what the effect is. Fewer Republicans almost certainly translates into fewer votes for Republicans, but not necessarily more votes for Democrats.
It will be interesting to see what turnout is like in midterms. I’m guess a lot of ppl will be staying home
I guarantee you, midterm or not, Dems are not staying home. Google “enthusiasm gap”.
I don’t disagree, I was thinking of less than enthusiastic would-be republicans
ABSOLUTELY! I'm one of them!
And some of us still are Republicans, working towards the day some level of respect and integrity and consistent-cnservatism returns to the GOP
While I admire the commitment to the party, conservatism and #CountryOverParty is far more important than the survival of the @GOP.
I agree. But the conservative worldview is insufficient without a party to enact its ideas. And in that sense the survival of the GOP and conservatism may be the same thing.
I figure, half the party quit. What I don't understand, is why Dems are so clueless. If they reverted to classical Democrat small-govt manttra before 1960s, they could get us. But instead they retain Communist Russia Left mantra. So, they won't get us. So, they won't win.
