Gerrymandering has not "suddenly" become a hot topic. We have complained about it for years and yes, many Democrats that held seats, were complicit.

I live in Austin. Our large democratic majority has no voice beyond the city limits. Gerrymandering is wrong, but especially in states like Texas, where every major city voted blue in last election.
