I do understand the un-realness he's talking about. Even shows I love, sometimes you can see the unreal conflict coming a mile away and I have to stand up, walk away, letting the scene play to no one. It's that or stop watching the show altogether

Ex. One of my favorite shows, Seinfeld, became guilty of this in later seasons, dialogue and situations that were so unlikely (do ppl really talk like that), eg Yada Yada-ing over possibly committing crimes.

I always consider it a side effect of having run out of relatable situations (lost in parking lots, dogsitting) that they were left to fill with uninteresting conversation. End of run Monk was like that too.
