Ugh. Cruz’s path would lead to 2nd class citizens who don’t assimilate. It would also allow Dems to keep using this pol issue against R’s. Wouldn’t it be smarter for conservatives to grant amnesty in exchange for a wall + ending chain migration?https://twitter.com/sahilkapur/status/956626442313519104 …

Build the wall first, stop chain migration second and then let’s talk about amnesty.

Can we first end the Trump family's chain migration into the WH?

What is the conservative case against family based visas in general (aka chain migration)? If a person is here legally why cant they apply to have a small # of family members join them assuming they pass the visa admission process?

My preferred answer is if a deal is made 4 them 2 stay here, they go 2 the back of the line of those applying 4 citizenship. That would mean many, if not most, never become citizens. But how can we fairly put someone who broke the law ahead of someone doing things the right way?

You underestimate the influence of pseudo-scientific eugenicist thinking on today’s GOP. You’ve heard of the US’ demographic destiny? That whites will be a minority in 25 years? It is ALL that Trump’s base thinks about. Even a POC like Cruz must pander to it. Still a Republican?

So you're a eugenicist. You think the US needs more white people, fewer POC. Thanks for proving my point. We need to call it out and name it. You don't stand for the principles of the Constitution like equality under the law. You stand for whites. Let the debate begin honestly.

I'd offer amnesty to all non-criminals (all illegal aliens) Giving 20-25 million people "legal status." Price of illegality, no citizenship, no right to vote. Trump gives legal status to all, gets wall, no chain migration, and Dems get no votes. (the immigrants would take it)

No. Because they know the wall is stupid and won't bring about the serious policy changes they seek.

It worked wonderfully well for China. By the way, the wall in East Berlin was to keep in not out. Ask East German how well Evan that worked.

The purpose of the wall was to make East Germany a viable state. In the end it failed.

Not second class citizens, Matt. NON CITIZENS. Every country has them. Neither slaves, nor illegal immigrants, nor tourists. Permanent residents. It's a well known category & there's nothing wrong with it. D's will ALWAYS pimp for non Americans. It's what they're good at.

They are already that. Like visa holders whose numbers are profound. The difference is how many elections they can sway. Dems have plenty of wedge issues.
