The wall is symbolically significant on multiple levels. For some conservatives, it’s construction would be tangible (not nebulous) proof that their government can still actually do something.http://thebea.st/2D5xeKZ?source=twitter&via=mobile …

Here's a novel idea. Let's spend the money on our crumbling infrastructure and show the American people that our government can still do something. Why are so many people afraid to admit that building a wall is a lousy idea and a waste of money.

Is people not believing the government “does something” on immigration when in fact it vigorously vets arrivals and combats illegal immigration a problem we should try to address? Can we? The proof that the government does is already there.

What if we showed government could find a way to welcome human beings who want to come live here? Why can’t that be a conservative goal? Conservatives have decided that some humans are better than other humans. All while waving around the Declaration of Independence.

Your wall is the stuff of white supremacy. You can't rationalize it. It's a monument to bigotry and the corruption of the GOP. You CANNOT rationalize the wall without getting sucked into the orbit of white supremacy. Tread carefully Matt. Would hate to dismiss your perspective.

When the government passed a law that allowed an additional 20 million people to obtain health insurance, conservatives didn't see it as proof the government can still do things, they saw it as the end of America altogether
