I’ve spoken to several Oprah fans who are hoping she doesn’t run. They worry the divisiveness of modern politics—even if she were to win—would forever tarnish her universally popular & iconic image. It’s not an absurd fear.

The standard shouldn't merely be that she's better than the buffoon currently in the WH.

Then there are those of us who just want someone who has ACTUAL EXPERIENCE IN GOVERNMENT to be our president. There’s also that....

Yes but we are desperate to get Trump out! Catch 22.

Desperate people grasping at straws & mistaking success for skill is what gave us Trump in the first place (that & racism & sexism). We absolutely need to get rid of corrupt & compromised elected officials, but we still need people who know how government actually works.

It partially happened after she simply SUPPORTED Obama in 2008.

I worry that we are confusing her good and charitable work with public service. Very different.

Imagine that same fear from her point of view. Oprah pretty much has all the perks of being president without the bad that comes along with it. She can already affect change from outside the White House with all of her money and cultural clout. Why give that up?

Look at Hillary’s poll numbers as SoS vs Presidential candidate. Running for President does that to people.

She is not universally popular. As successful and popular as she is, for every fan that thinks she is beloved there're just as many people rolling their eyes at promotion of The Secret, platforming Drs Phil and Oz, relentless self help tips, and her followers unfailing devotion.

Good point. Also, she's not qualified. Let's find someone who's held public office, knows the daily grind of lawmaking and understands domestic and global policy. A public servant, not a celebrity.
