    Isn’t Oprah’s prepatory experience actually superior to Trump’s? She was rags to riches—a self-made woman.https://twitter.com/davidlimbaugh/status/950444775127306242 …

I reject that Trump supporters have forfeited their right to cite others’ lack of preparatory experience for presidential office. Apart from the debate over Trump’s preparedness, all extra-political experience is not fungible — Oprah’s (lack of) relevant experience is fair game.

I grant you that it’s open for debate. But my point is not whether she is or isn’t, but that we don’t have to regard all extra-political backgrounds of equal preparatory value, nor do we have forfeit the issue for because of Trump. Each case is different IMHO.

Fair point. If we are truly in a “post-politician” era, we will have to use criteria other than voting records, etc., to evaluate candidates.

I suppose merely unprepared IS superior to catastrophically unprepared. Still, I'm over amateur hour for a while.

Yes..but "merely" unprepared and understanding what you need to compensate for in other ways is much better than " I have the best brain".

I have no problem stipulating that an Oprah administration would be better than what we have now. That bar is too low, better isn't good enough. I'm looking for a Senator or Governor to support.

I agree the best candidate will ultimately be someone who's served before...also hate the idea that Trump has stained the chance for an alternative far more deserving than he is to get in when they may be deserving.

        Replying to @BBWave2018 @Rycrosby and

To become 'eligible' or 'deserving', a celebrity needs to run for some elective office - preferably governor or US Senator - before running for President. One takeaway from Trump is - never again someone with zero political experience. Trump should not define a minimum standard

I think Oprah should be seen as the epitome of what conservatives always claim they want people to be - hard-working, self-reliant, making tons of money through her own efforts and intelligence with no help from government.

“More qualified than Trump” is an incredibly low bar, and is not the same thing as “qualified to be POTUS”
