A couple things happened in the last week that really surprised me.

      1. I’m pretty shocked Republicans were able to get rid of the individual mandate—& that they were able to do it so quietly. This is a big deal. Why wasn’t there more pushback from Democrats and moderate Republicans? I’m not criticizing it, just saying I’m surprised.

      2. I’m also somewhat surprised tax reform didn’t garner more attrition from gop Senators. Trump personally offended numerous Sens (McCain, Corker, et al.) & there were legitimate concerns about the budget deficit. Plus, Johnson & Rubio cut deals that didn’t open a Pandora’s box.

I was convinced when the bill was bouncing back and forth between the House and the Senate that it was never going to pass. I agree with you, McCain tweeted a congratulations on the passage, so that immediately makes me suspect of its passing -- haha

This was always a bill for the big donors. The well was going to dry up if this didn't pass.

This is the fundamental misunderstanding of politics. Senators won't "stick it to Trump" because he's mean to them by opposing their own agenda. That makes no sense. Tax cuts are the glue that holds the GOP together. It unites all wings of the party.

Dems never fight back... they just take it.. like they did with Merrick Garland... it's ridiculous. But the more the GOP gets done the more dem voters will be energized. The GOP is still screwed in 18
