Matt how do you feel about Donald these days?

Mixed. I’m writing a column about it.

On the one hand taxes, on the other hand complete moral and ethical void?
-
That’s basically my lede.

I'll leave it at this: if a package of bologna was President, it could have got this tax bill passed with a GOP majority. It's a shame the GOP put aside everything else- the racism, admitted sexual improprieties, 16+ accusers, massive conflicts of interest- just for this payday.
-
Not to mention acting as an agent of influence for Russia and (at the very least) trying super-hard to cheat at the election. Seems like that'd tip the scales a bit, but hey, a lower annual tax rate is probably worth the treason.

The setting itself and descriptions of affluence, conversations, etc. would be evidence to many n fly-over country that these are Washington insiders, which equates to anti-Trump in their minds. It seems the media sill fails to understand how it it seen by many, many Americans

It was the most stereotypical, cliched, and out of touch scene one could set.

Should they be cooking crystal meth in a bathtub in Florida instead? Is that the new look for genuine Republicans? I'm confused.

So? Do Trump & gang go to tailgate parties in Ohio? No, they're at Trump properties & fancy restaurants in Manhattan, hobnobbing w lobbyists in DC. These anti-elitist Trumpies need to get over their petty resentment of experienced, competent politicians & media.

You really think a publication named Esquire would report something from the view of farmer in Arkansas? Perhaps a welfare recipient in West Virginia? This surprises you?

I was NT, will be again in 2020, and think he's continuing to damage conservatism and the Republican Party, but I think the authoritarianism fears are kind of silly. Trump is not Hitler, he's the Charlie Chaplin version of himself.pic.twitter.com/H4ZNZniCL7
