Debt service and entitlements --- a mind-blowing 79% of our annual budget ...

Shhhhh! You can't say "entitlements." And you can't say they are a fiscal train wreck.
-
What the hell is wrong with you and your bonkers obsession with PC language? These are people’s entire freaking lives wrapped up in FICA taxes. You’re a dangerous idiot! How’s that for un-PC?
-
I have been obsessed by language for six decades.. Words matter. John Roberts's definition of "tax" is what allowed Obamacare to be law. I have been obsessed by FICA's horizon & by health care costs since the mid-'70s. I live on Social Security. That's my only basis for the post.

True. But if you believe in them, it’s like saying food, rent and healthcare is the biggest driver of your household deficit.

It’s no surprise coming from a Republican “Conservative”. There’s no such thing as “entitlements”. That’s a word made up by Republicans to mask their lustful greed of stripping people of their last lifelines.

Only if you're confused about what an entitlement is in this scenario. Not something "given" to us as though we were getting something free, but something we are entitled to because we paid into it all of our working lives and are thus, entitled to receive it. Stupid by choice.

These should be referred to as earned benefits- we all pay into social security and Medicare. The American population won’t tolerate anyone messing with these promised benefits!

Basic question; if you cut-off Social Security in the future for say the "1%", does that even make a dent? Seems like there should be some career high-wage earners that should be phased out of SS. Low hanging fruit that people can agree on?
-
No everybody pays, everybody is covered. FDR insisted on that. Honor it.

Nothing wrong with entitlements. I'm entitled to them because I paid for them with my work.

Deficits do matter, but we won't end them with 2 percent growth.

No it’s structural deficit caused by Bush tax cuts and now this debacle. In 1979, Corp tax rate was 42%. Soon 21%. That’s the deficit.
