Will Doug Jones work across party lines—or appease the progressive base that turned out for him?https://www.thedailybeast.com/can-northam-and-jones-pull-off-a-center-left-balancing-act …

The point of the article is valid though. Democratic talking heads want every Democratic member of Congress to be a hardcore lefty. But, if they were, they’d have way less Democratic members of Congress.

Work across party lines. In 2 years, he'll probably have real opposition. Alabama is still a conservative state. Watch a Democrat from the Dakotas.

Progressive base? In Alabama? There’s no such animal. Jones won because of high minority turnout, low GOP turnout, write-ins, and some decent Republicans crossing party lines.

John Tester won’t so I doubt Jones will. Current environment is akin to war and so solidarity is required while trying to convince other side it isn’t.

This insane partisan war was created and perfected by the GOP. Finally the Dems are getting wise to it. (See Gingrich 1996 GOPAC memo.)

When the Democrats need his vote, he’ll be there. See Obamacare.

The lgbt Democrat Party is not very welcome in Alabama. Jones will have a short-term.

Oh give it a rest bud. He's from ALABAMA. "Progressives" don't need him to do anything but hold that seat.

I hope he sets an example on how Congress should really function .. by working together vs. across party lines.
