There’s also a very good economy—& other positive metrics to be happy about. Yet, we *feel* gloomy—like things are coming apart. One idea: Pres Trump should stop tweeting. This would be a great New Years Resolution!https://twitter.com/mattklewis/status/941695940313968640 …

I don’t think people appreciate how important this tax bill is. IF it passes, GOP can say they (a) passed tax reform, (b) repealed individual mandate, (c) confirmed Gorsuch AND a ton of fed judges, & (d) got rid of job-killing regulations. On paper, that’s not a bad 2017 agenda.

Presenting Trump in a constant negative light will make things appear doom and gloom. If more of the positive was presented people would feel some hope.

True. But he causes/deserves a lot of the negative coverage.

I work in the stock market & things are good. The gloom I feel is that Trump & Co. is damaging the presidency & our democracy so much that it may not be repairable.

I think there is a lot to be said about how the administration has really taken the fight and has won against ISIS. Unreported but still a victory.

I don’t feel gloomy. I’m deeply concerned abt an admin that is chipping away at our constitution, our FBI, and our free press and is driving divisions among our people. These are major causes for watchful concern, Matt.

The idea that we *need* tax reform when the economy is doing so well is bizarre. It seems nothing more than the president needing a win on the board, playing with people's lives to put a point on the board. I feel like he will be tweeting more. Ugh.

Without getting into the politics or policy particulars, let me suggest that having a megalomaniacal, inarticulate, divisive, ungrounded, delusional ringmaster is not a good sell for the circus.

I don’t understand the mindset from someone who has made 4 tweets in the last hour to give someone else advice on their twitter use. It’s like warning someone of eating a Big Mac as you’re shoving one into your mouth.

It would be nice to a country whose POTUS didn't look fondly on sexism, white nationalism, lying, attacking the FBI, a rigged internet, etc. We're not having debates about policies or asking "What can we do today to help everybody?" It's daily tribalism and cult of personality.
