Trump voters saw how the Left was winning the culture war by playing identity politics & victimhood card, and said: WE NEED TO DO THAT, TOO!

This is why Trump voters are just as happy when he attacks the NFL or not saying “Merry Christmas” as they would be if he passed a bill.

His raison d'être is to fight the Left’s culture war (using media, pop culture, reality TV means)—not to pass conservative legislation.

It should be noted that I disagreed deeply and profoundly with this strategy. But that is beside the point.

Primarily, I wanted a peacemaker who could unify the country and win the argument (& then win the vote). Trump is stoking the bitterness.

But maybe I was just naive. Maybe the Left would have destroyed Rubio. Maybe the Trump people are just realists. We may never know.

I wish I could make you see... he's a symptom of the decay of the Republican party. Not America.
-
I wrote a book that was very critical of the GOP. But I wish it were that simple.
-
The GOP shredded it's integrity to get Trump elected. We never get to debate policy anymore. The GOP demands that we debate people, instead.
-
Once Obama was elected; R's pretended history began anew. Obama never did anything outside the lines; but they pretended he was a foreign.
-
The dishonesty started long ago; but was made front and center after Obama got elected. R's wrote terrifying fictions about him.
-
I think the failure of Reaganomics has led the GOP to an ideological dead end. That's why fiction is so valuable to them now. Truth hurts.
-
America won't survive much longer without a change in course. The 0.01% has far too much power... Given to them by Reaganomics.

Tribalism/“cultural decay,” are both predictable reactions to wealth and income inequality. So is Nationalism/Nativism
-
If you think about events post 2008 crash there is relevant historical precedent for the rise of Nationalism and Nativism
-
Of course I’m referring to the events that preceded WWII. The punishment levied on Germany for WWI, The Great Depression

Maybe but conservative media propaganda outlets like Fox News makes things much worse. I don't see often much differences with Kremlin's tv.

He is not a cause of anything. He wasn't running the country for the past 45 years that have seen America go to hell.
