Even though one or both death-dates were probably rounded-off by their households, still remarkable.

I think they were kept alive by stimulants so that they could expire on the 4th. Had anyone else heard this theory?

Too complicated. Easier to imagine that they both died early in July. Family honored a dying wish. Or a family narrative.

Adams had the last laugh, however, as the question of slavery was effectively settled in Gettysburg (Adams County, PA) on July 3, 1863.

If it had happened in the present day, Qanon, Alex Jones, and Sean Hannity would have constructed an elaborate simultaneous assassination conspiracy theory. James O'Keefe would have released a propaganda pamphlet with doctored quotes and misattributions.
