No matter your record of intellectual honesty, suggesting that Obama "contributed" to the "trend" that gave us Trump will not be tolerated.

1/Sorry to jump on thread but Matt is one of the smartest guys I know at intersection of public policy & morality, so it's an imp. dialogue
-
2/Problem w/positioning Trump on a spectrum with other political silliness is that it gives the glow of normalcy to that which is abnormal.
-
3/Were some Obama YouTube interviews silly? Sure, maybe. Appropriate for presidency? I think so, but others may disagree.
-
4/But does a YouTube interview degrade women, normalize bullying, or fundamentally break centuries-long norms? Can't reasonably say it does.
-
5/To compare the two slides us towards outright moral vacuum. No mans land where words & actions don't matter b/c they're on "spectrum."
-
Just my thoughts. Best to you both.

Can you point to something Obama said that is comparable with "bleeding badly from a face-lift"?

I disagree wholeheartedly. Obama was the first president to be fully espoused in he digital/social media age - he used it appropriately.

Social media has allowed ALL of our political leaders to be more accessible. Obama NEVER used it even remotely like Trump has.
