@mattklewis I don't follow the argument. Final bill had no public option, closer to Finance Cmte version Snowe voted for- didn't *she* flip?

@sahilkapur She went out on a limb with her caucus, spent a lot of time negotiating a deal in good faith, & thne Reid poisoned the well. -
@mattklewis I think the "poisoned the well"/ process arguments are virtually always a smoke screen, especially so in this case. -
@sahilkapur So you don't think Baucus and Snowe were sincere about working together to craft this more moderate reform option? -
@mattklewis I do. I think she personally wanted to vote for HCR. But it's GOP + conservative pressure that pushed her away, not Reid. -
@sahilkapur The historical record/news documentation appears to contradict that theory. http://theweek.com/article/index/258878/speedreads-when-harry-reid-killed-bipartisan-health-care-reform … -
@mattklewis negotiations happen. But she ultimately got what she *said* she wanted/didn't want; voted against the bill anyway.

@mattklewis But then they took out the public option and Snowe still opposed it! -
