@mattklewis In other words a rudderless state with warring sectarian factions and lots of space for Al Q. and others to operate/train etc.

@earldean71 But aren't they now being killed by Assad's forces? Why should we get in the middle of that? -
@mattklewis I am not saying we should, but there will be a reckoning at some point with a post-Assad Syria whether we get involved or not. -
@earldean71 Exactly. It's bad either way. -
@mattklewis I am not sure that we do ourselves any favors in that post-Assad world by suggesting that Muslims killing Muslims is favorable. -
@earldean71 Is it politically incorrect of me to suggest its better for Hezbollah and Al Qaeda take on each other -- instead of US soldiers? -
@mattklewis No, I could care less about political correctness, but that is not the whole story. There are Christians involved as well. -
@earldean71 But they favor Assad staying in power, no? - 1 more reply

@mattklewis That assumes the choice is Assad or an Islamist. Another possible outcome is a Somalia or Afghan in 90's or Lebanon 75 to 2000.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
