@mattklewis not fulfilling your request was playing hardball? Mike was protecting his boss = part of his job Do you respond to every pitch?

@JoeBrettell I don't always respond. But I also don't them I'm not accepting their pitch because, "actions have consequences." -
@mattklewis to be clear - having worked with you both, you're each great at what you do - just think in this instance you're off base -
@JoeBrettell So he was smart to keep Speaker Boehner from giving me a quote about the patron saint of the Pro-Life movement? -
@mattklewis given that you'd written a story that highlighted an unflattering aspect of his boss, no way to know you wouldn't do it again -
@JoeBrettell So your PR advice is that when someone writes something negative once, cut them off? Wouldn't it be wiser to cultivate them? -
@mattklewis I think any number of reporters can attest to the fact that I'm a cultivate guy. I'm also cautious when given reason to be -
@JoeBrettell If someone has a pattern of dishonesty or burning you, that makes sense. But haven't I always been a fair/honest broker to you? - 1 more reply

@mattklewis Remember when it used to be Flack? Now, it's Spox which sounds a lot like Pox. I dunno know if I like this...grin. -
@tlawrenceBOS A spox on all your houses! -
@mattklewis Camp took a looney turn in the interview. Funny really. He's like "was it something I said?" No elegant way to shut that down.

@mattklewis You have to admit the guys 'question' to Ryan was ridiculous. It was nonsense. -
@andylancaster 80% of questions these guys get are ridiculous. You roll with it. -
@mattklewis How do you reduce gun violence by cutting taxes is partisan commentary not journalism. He would have been a fool to answer.
