Possible lesson from the Romney campaign turnaround is that candidate needs to be candidate+ those who know him best need to be in charge.
@LizMair There are a lot of people who know the candidate well who shouldn't be advising campaigns: Spouses, frat brothers, parents, etc.

@mattklewis Yeah, most of those are family, tho + I've said before I'm a skeptic of families running the show. Re: frat brothers, depends! -
@LizMair Romney kids may be an exception. They're adults with real careers--but also grew up in a political family. Don't try this at home. -
@mattklewis Yeah, agree. That's why I said "not nec" family. They're one instance where I'll OK family :)

@mattklewis I think friends + consultants who have long-term relationship w candidate usually an asset. -
@LizMair Exactly. FDR, Reagan, et al. had long-serving loyalists who were also super competent. -
@mattklewis Yeah, but my point is, you need someone who really does know candidate v, v well. Can be that, can be friend(s). -
@LizMair@mattklewis Also helps to have friends/family who'll tell a candidate the truth instead of just kissing butt. -
@SmoosieQ@mattklewis See, I think friends always do this. Paid staff don't always do this. Dependent on positive impression for paycheck.
