It’s funny. When I criticize Trump (which is often!) I am treated as a “serious,” “thoughtful,” and “intellectually honest” conservative. When I criticize the Left, I’m basically a fascist. (I’m gonna keep criticizing both sides when they’re wrong!)

If being an "opinion journalist" is a real thing, millions of Americans should be getting a paycheck for doing the exact same thing.
-
In all fairness, it's not the same.
@mattklewis is a pro. I would bet my house that his opinions have way more factual basis and thoughts behind them than most. -
Opinions vs. Facts and truth. Sean Hannity is an Opinion Host. He lies about everything all day long.
-
Nothing about Hannity is balanced. On the other end of the scale, Maddow and company are equally unbalanced.
-
Looping Maddow into the same category as Hannity shows you’re not serious about being factual. Hannity is absolutely absurd and is allergic to facts. Maddow relies on facts and research and her credentials are impeccable.

Believe what you will. Both speak very loudly with very little information. I have plenty of acquaintances who feel like Hannity speaks nothing but pure facts. And I get the same response.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it. I am sure your opinion comes from a well educated position. I guess that's just the nature of your job ... you have an opinion, so does everyone else :)

You're a disingenuous mouthpiece. That's not journalism. Never has been.

Oh. Opinion journalist, huh? Does that mean that you don’t base your opinion on facts? That you get to cherry-pick facts to fit your opinion? A bit from columns A & B here? As a public journalist, you have a responsibility to report facts before opining.
-
Otherwise, start writing your screenplay.

An opinion journalist should understand a bad opinion and what happens when you voice one.

Opinion and Journalist are an oxymoron.. You can be either, not both. Or say, you can be both. But you fail.. Journalist.. it is literally in the title.. Journal-ist. You keep a journal.. you report the fact. The moment you add your opinion the fact becomes a fairy tale.
-
Disagree. Government is complex & there is need for journalists to interpret facts & help people understand. In a perfect world - the government would be honest and open - investigating facts would not be necessary as transparency would be the rule
-
Journalism isn't tied to politics. But let's stay with it a moment. Generally.. in an ideal information world.. The journalist reports the factual details. Then the political scientist analyzes those. And then, again with the help the journalist, the people will be informed
