As a moderate GOPer I feel your pain, but you are a journalist and there is an easy solution. Stop opinionating so much - fill out a FOIA request and deliver the facts. Lack of facts is a big problem here. Your commentary and the reactions is just part of the mess.

I’m an opinion journalist. Always have been.
-
If being an "opinion journalist" is a real thing, millions of Americans should be getting a paycheck for doing the exact same thing.
-
In all fairness, it's not the same.
@mattklewis is a pro. I would bet my house that his opinions have way more factual basis and thoughts behind them than most. -
Opinions vs. Facts and truth. Sean Hannity is an Opinion Host. He lies about everything all day long.
-
Nothing about Hannity is balanced. On the other end of the scale, Maddow and company are equally unbalanced.
-
Looping Maddow into the same category as Hannity shows you’re not serious about being factual. Hannity is absolutely absurd and is allergic to facts. Maddow relies on facts and research and her credentials are impeccable.

Okay, so tell us how the right responds when you criticize Trump. You’ve told us how the left reacts. Criticize both sides. Follow your guidelines.
-
They don’t much care for it. I’ve been called everything from RINO to “cuckservative.” (Of course, I’ve talked plenty about that—when it was timely.)
-
Thank you. Seriously. Balanced commentary is hard to come by these days. A level headed debate with open minds on both sides is hard to find. One day people from both sides will be able to sit in a coffee shop and discuss issues calmly, and with respect. Yea, I’m Canadian.

-
There should be a new game like the old "in bed", except "in Canada". E.g. "I had a great family Thanksgiving discussing politics...in Canada". Or "I'm not continuously politically suspicious of everyone from work, the dry cleaner, the other dads watching soccer...in Canada".
-
It was a self deprecating statement. We are often in debates crippled by civility. We tend to attempt to inject it into conversations.
-
Was just in Toronto last weekend for Thanksgiving. Civilized discourse was refreshing!
-
It’s refreshing to be able to have a pint, or glass of wine, disagree on topics, and agree on others. Sharing thoughts and opinions is how we expand upon our own opinions. Open-mindedness is an important part of it.

To be fair, I've never considered you to be serious, thoughtful, or intellectually honest.

Fair point!

#newsflash!! That’s what a real journalist is supposed to do- we shouldn’t be able to figure out who you vote for!! -
I’m an opinion journalist, not a straight reporter. So I get paid to have opinions.
-
That’s great. Straight reporters and opinion reporters alike should treat both sides equally. Glad to see you will-
