As someone who spent the better part of a decade chronicling & lamenting the rise of what came to be called “Trumpism” on the Right, it’s worth pointing out that two of the many contributing factors to this were (a) liberal media bias, and (b) the radicalization of the Left.

We should do more to preserve distinction. If that’s a mob, what’s the word for Charlottesville? Serious question here as we watch all fact and truth slip from our grasps—i don’t think willful conflation of terminology is helpful.
-
What liberals did these last couple of weeks fits the textbook definition of the word.
-
It is one narrow definition. But you know as well as anyone, Matt, that "mob" carries significant connotations related to violence. Continuing to describe protestors as a mob is intended only to instil fear and to escalate emotions on "your side".
-
No, it is intended to use a precise word in the English language that is (by definition) 100 percent correct.
-
mob /mäb/noun 1. a large crowd of people, especially one that is disorderly and intent on causing trouble or violence. There was nothing disorderly about the protests, and there was no intent to cause violence. This was what women had to do in order to be heard.

I think
@mattklewis does hit on something critical about modern conservatism, though -- it's a political movement completely devoid of responsibility and accountability. The people who adhere to this amoral philosophy are incapable of owning their own policies and decisions. -
You gonna take responsibility & accountably for your mates on the Left who pull this kinda crap with impunity?pic.twitter.com/aZJPvWfLb2

This is such a dishonest take. It was the abject bigotry and misogyny that drew the GOP around a populist wannabe authoritarian. The GOP now is full bigot and pro-authoritarian. And you blame the “liberals” - at least you admit the GOP cult can’t think for themselves.
-
Trump was not elected because people love Trump. Trump was elected because conservatives refused to turn the country over to rioting mobs of anarchy. But I'm fine with liberals believing otherwise & blaming other factors. The continuation of mobs makes it easy to keep winning.
-
How does that explain how Trump won the GOP primary?

Your self-portrait? Nice.
