I have to disagree with Matt. The #NeverTrump movement is not dead, however it is clear that the last of the #NeverTrump-ers are leaivng the GOP. Which is fine, because the GOP is now nothing but a Trumpidian dumpster fire of Trumpaloons, sycophants, sellouts, and cowardshttps://twitter.com/mattklewis/status/1049601569552064512 …

No we agree there. TBH, I never beleived the "resistance" inside the GOP would amount to anything. The lust for power is too strong and the desire to sellout too tempting.

Who gives a flying fuck what degenerates like Erick Erickson and Ben Shapiro think?
-
It's not just them, though. This nomination fight has clearly re-energized the right heading into the midterms. It has probably saved the Senate for the GOP
-
Eh, I never thought Senate was in jeopardy. Dems were always going tone lucky to keep status quo and then gear up for 2020.

I still think Democrats will capture the House in November, but I don't know what that will mean heading into 2020. Except perhaps that I think the general public will be so turned off at what politics has become that turnout will be lower. Which probably helps Trump.

To be frank about it, I haven't recognized the GOP since the middle of the Bush 43 years, although the genesis of the decay and drift into mindless populism probably goes back earlier than that to the 90s.
