(“Cross examining” would probably be more precise than “prosecuting.”)

Republicans obviously wanted to avoid the optics of having a bunch of old, white men asking the questions. We might look back later and second-guess that decision.

I get the feeling that Judiciary Committee Reps. know Kav's nom is not going through and the appointment of Mitchell was a way for them to save face from having to go after Ford and have the high road with the next nominee.
-
It’s possible.
-
If GOP really wanted to hurt Ford's credibility they would have hired a female criminal defense attorney to question her. A prosecutor is by definition a victim advocate and her day job would become infinitely more difficult if she is seen by future victims as unsympathetic

Why would you take a polygraph? ”I had no reason not to...” BOOM.

No reveal. I’m a (civil) defense attorney and this is common - death by a thousand cuts by perpetually eroding witness’s credibility. That’s not happening here, though, because Dr. Ford isn’t a liar. An investigation could have saved GOP this predictable embarrassing backfire.

So, is the prosecutor going also question the accused later, or are the Senators keeping their time for indignation theater?

Great question!

And Dr. Ford is very credible. Is Judge Kavanaugh now going to testify that she’s been lying this whole time?

Any Republican or Democrat for that matter who votes to confirm Kavanaugh will have to explain why they do not believe Dr. Ford!

She's asking the questions given to her by the republican members, she mentions the name of the senator whose questions she's asking.

Except that Ford has no memory of when, where or how she ended up there, or how she got home.

The only thing I've heard was the issue w fear of flying used as a delay for this hearing, when Dr Ford flies often. Other than that, nothing much.

None of which means they have anything on Kavanaugh either
-
This is political and she came across very credible. He's toast if something doesn't change.
-
So a man’s life can be destroyed just because she tells a good story? To hell with actual corroborated facts. Then we’re all screwed
-
Dude, look at the scenarion! The Dems played politics but so did the GOP. So here we are and the FBI can clear him or discover corroborating information. No FBI investigation, tough shit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
And that’s been explained multiple times. What you choose to believe is on you. I have no more use for the smear Kavanaugh cult in my TL than I have use for the MAGA cult in my timeline. Believe what you want to believe
