The point is that the center right seems to have been eaten by Trumpism as a political force. The vestiges need to regroup. This will take some difficult emotional steps, starting with destroying the power of what is today’s Reuben part.

Although I’m not sure which is the “Reuben part.”

Repub. damn autocorrect.

I’ve worked in politics and policy research for more than a quarter of a century. I’ve never seen it this bad and many of us so-called “center-right” warriors feel abandoned in the wilderness. I’ve built a fire and I’m knitting a new flag.

You can reject it all you want, but give me as a Center Leftist one reason to support anything that’s been done over the past 2 years that has included MItch Meadows, Bannon and their ilk running the show? There’s been one display of “enough is enough”, and he’s sadly passed away

Stupidity has triumphed over everything with Trump as its leader.

I bet most people who throw around the "Left" and "Right" labels couldn't succinctly and coherently tell you what each stands for in a way that matches the far more complex reality.

That guy is everything that's wrong with politics today.
-
Really? I’m what’s wrong with politics today?
Those of us who don’t march in lock step to the orders of the base-pandering party leadership are the people who will save politics. Principles matter. -
What "principles" are you referring to? Indignation at all things Trump, without any consideration or acknowledgement of how tribalism and ignorance ran amok to where it enabled and bolstered his candidacy/election?

-
#FFS You nailed it.

My comment was made in the context of how political parties now appeal to only their bases. I have not relinquished my own responsibilities of voting on principle and ignoring the BS. My point is that the parties are shrinking and the center grows, with no allegiance to either.

I dont think we're there yet (and I hope the pendulum swings back), but I think there is a concerted effort from left and right groups to make this a reality, and it's had some success.

Ex. The first Kav allegation sounded plausible, but before we even got to actually hear her, the whole thing has turned into another culture war battle. Even if I have doubts about Kav re Ford, I feel like I now have to side w/ him to fight what appears to be a Dem stitch-up.

If only life were a superhero movie, eh? Your analysis and interpretation are incorrect. In fact, your theory is the antithesis of my beliefs.

Definitely cynical and not grounded in reality. Maryland is a perfect example. Popular moderate R governor in a democratic state where Ds outnumber Rs 2 to 1 on track to win re-election. BAM!

There’s alt-right and the right that is that way because the lefties have bad manners, which they do but, so what.
