Beto is a class act. Cruz would not have done the same had the situation been reversed, and we all know it.

That's why Beto was able to say something good about Cruz, but Cruz wasn't able to reciprocate.

"True to form." Classic.

Unfortunately we have one of the most disrespectful men sitting in at the head of our government. He has been a horrible example, and more people, on the left and on the right, feel it is OK to follow his lead.

Maybe you could pass that along to your friends running to their corner.

Cruz paid those protestors to trash Beto.

I just find it funny that after years of trying to light fires, now that there’s a roaring fire, certain ppl want to tamp it down. The venom and vitriol and dirty tricks played by repubs for many years will not soon be forgotten

Many (not all, by any means) of his supporters are dissenting vigorously in the comments section.

Why are these non-violent protests "not right" but, per Beto, non-violent protests that disrespect the flag are "the most American thing" he can think of? Help me understand the distinction.

Texas would do us all a great service by sending
@BetoORourke to the Senate. Cruz represents the “base only” politics that has plagued us for decades now. -
Serious question: Setting aside his inspiring rhetoric, if he gets elected, do you think
@BetoORourke's voting record will be anything but "base only"? -
I'd say that this depends somewhat on where one locates the line between the base and everyone else. My guess is that he intends to stake out center-left space, roughly in the area that Obama, Doug Jones, Conor Lamb and others have sought to occupy.
-
Thanks. Even if that's his intention, the progressive left appears to be geeking out over him, and it seems that this would drag him further leftward than the center-left space. Similar thing happened to Obama.
-
My take on Obama is that he remained ready to find ways to do deals across the aisle, but was stymied by the conscious strategy, embraced explicitly by Mitch McConnell, to deprive Obama of any success. That GOP strategy cost ordinary Americans plenty in missed opportunities.
