This is admittedly anecdotal, but I’ve heard from several of my center-right friends today who are turned off by the Left’s attacks on Kavanaugh & Cruz. As a result, they have started solidly supporting them both.

I think partisanship is so deeply entrenched “center right” has little meaning when it comes down to the deadline of a vote. The Dems have been truly terrible in terms of Kavanaugh (and I don’t trust him) but I doubt that’s the only reason for their support. It’s just the excuse.

I think some of these folks could have abandoned the gop in favor of a sensible, moderate Democratic Party. They hate Trump. But when they see how the Left acts, it forces them back into their original tribal “corners.”

Oh please, you’re telling me that a Republican would rather vote for someone who supports putting children in cages, takes away health care from millions, conspires with Russia, and daily lies to the American people rather than a Dem because they were rude to Ted Cruz?

Don’t forget, republicans are trying to ram Kavanaugh into #SCOTUS so he is there to vote against #StatesRights in October. They don’t want #NYAG to be able to prosecute #TreasonWeasels that rump can’t pardon. #HatchAttacksStatesRights #BelieveSurvivors

Exactly. There's no reason to rush due to mid-terms because Republicans will still hold power until at least January. It's the double jeopardy exemption for sovereign states that they are attacking and they don't care what it takes. We see you @ChuckGrassley #Shame

Kind of like they are just a tad more concerned about the possibility they may go out to dinner & witness a bit of a nuisance, than they are concerned about their wives, sisters, or daughters being sexually assaulted or raped. #InterestingPrioritieshttps://twitter.com/mattklewis/status/1044689636935782401 …

I don't buy this at all. Anyone truly on the "center right" would love Cruz and Kavanaugh, anyway. They're not being pushed into Rafael Cruz's arms by moderates and liberals who want to hold sexual assaulters accountable.

There’s a difference in holding the guilty responsible and pretending to care about human decency and justice. The games, timing, threats, and violence are political mayhem. You don’t abuse innocent women in the process of your so called noble cause.

What in the world are you thinking? This is your idea of threats and violence? Huh? And the only "lining up in the hallway" I've seen is a pic of Yale Law School students staging a peaceful all-American-style sit-in to protest their school's enabling support of Kavanaugh.

You could't find a more moderate party than the Dems, though. The right wants extremism. Even the ones you think are center right. Cruz and Kavanaugh are far right, and if this is all it takes for "moderate Republicans" to support them, their centrism was strictly performative.

And that, friends, is why Hillary Clinton's redbaiting of Sanders and sophisticated microtargeting of Panera bread soccer moms led her to ride a wave of support from all the millions of David Frums out there to a landslide victory over her pathologically transgressive opponent.
